— We are not in a position to have a hunting service of any comparable size and discipline, which already exists in the forest guard. We need to take all measures to make the hunting service truly related to the forest workers!
Locally, employees of the Councils of Ministers of the Republics are required to review the state of the hunting industry in their republic and develop measures to improve it. It is necessary to make more use of the initiative of local Soviet authorities and the heads of hunting societies.

We heard and discussed the reports of: A.V. Malinovsky on the prospects for the development of the hunting industry in the USSR, heads of departments of the hunting industry of the Union republics on the results of work for 1957 and work plans for 195B, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Central Union S. V. Potapov on harvesting furs and fur raw materials in the USSR, B. P. Spangenberg on state hunting, forestry and A. V. Lepikhin, Head of the Hunting and Sports Department of the Central Committee of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, on assigned hunting farms in military hunting societies.
The following achievements were made in the development of the hunting industry in 1956-1957:
a) the number of valuable species of hunting fauna has increased, in particular, elk, sable, saiga, roe deer;
b) the fight against poaching was carried out more actively, as a result of which the number of cases of detected violations of hunting rules and deadlines increased threefold in 1957 compared with 1955.;
c) the fur harvesting plan for 1957 has been completed;
d) the main number of wolves has decreased due to the active fight against them;
e) shortening the time for hunting waterfowl in wintering grounds and the almost universal closure of spring hunting has increased stocks of waterfowl and wild game;
f) the network of reserves has expanded, of which there are now 1,703 in the Soviet Union with a total area of 6.3 million hectares, and the number of assigned and commercial hunting farms has increased, of which there are 474 with a total area of 17.6 million. ha;
g) state hunting, forest hunting and reserve hunting farms have been established as a new form of active hunting management;
h) a hunting department has been established at the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Forestry and Forestry Mechanization in Pushkino, Moscow Region;
i) the content and design of the magazine "Hunting and Hunting Economy" has improved, which has led to an increase in its circulation.
