Pregnancy Tests

Rapid tests, also known as rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs), or Lateral Flow Assays (LFAs), are easy-to-use tests that provide quick qualitative (yes/ no) results, usually in 20 minutes or less. They can be used in low resource settings, and are also called Point of Care (POC) tests for that reason.
These tests are based on the principle of antigen-antibody interaction. They can test for the presence of antigen, antibody, or another protein in the patient sample, which can be urine, blood, serum, or nasal fluid.
Oscar’s Pregnancy Cassette tests detect the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone produced during pregnancy, in a urine sample. The amount of hCG in the blood and urine increases rapidly during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, doubling every 2–3 days. Available in three formats, midstream cassettes, cassettes, or dipstick/ strip.
